My photography passion and love of travelling complement each other perfectly, and I have put some of my favourite images here to share. Photos have been taken with a Nikon Coolpix 990, and a Minolta Dimage 7Hi.

The subject matter is wide, but is concentrated primarily on nature and travel.

Occasionally I write random thoughts on my weblog. I also started GoogleTouring as a way to share excellent images using the stunning Google Earth software.

Sydney Skyline

This view of Sydney was taken from below my parents house on my last visit.

Dam Square

Dam Square is right in the centre of Amsterdam, and is the main square. Overlooking the square is the Royal Palace, still an official royal residence. It wasn't always the Palace - origionally it was the Town Hall.

This is a tower on the Knippels Bridge in Copenhagen, Denmark. The tarnished copper cladding gives a particularly striking texture that complements the sky.

Built between 1885 and 1911, this grand monument in Rome honours the first King of a unified Italy.

About 20km south-east of Amsterdam is an area of Holland that is well known for its forested areas. These trees were in a section of forest near the town of Baarn. Processed with a digital lith type effect.

At the end of winter, the city of Maastricht puts on a grand carnival, where people from all around dress up colourfully and party!

An idle winter in the Netherlands

Erasmus Bridge

The Erasmus bridge in Rotterdam, which spans the Maas river, was opened in 1996 and is one of the city's most striking features.

Odd One Out

Tulips are one of the largest exports from The Netherlands. During the spring, hundreds of brightly coloured tulip fields adorn the countryside. Sometimes a stray colour gets mixed in.

The Echinocactus grusonii is an impressive variety, often known as a golden barrel cactus. It grows very slowly, taking 50 years or more to reach 50 cm. This group is located in the Jardins Mossen Costa i Llobera in Barcelona

Leaning Pub

Amsterdam is well known for its many buildings leaning to the side due to soft ground. This striking example is a pub right next to one of the many locks in the canals.

Arc de Triomphe

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most recognised archways in Europe. It was built by Napoleon between 1806 and 1836, and houses a museum. This photo looks back up the spiral staircases in one of the pillars.

Tulips at Keukenhof

Keukenhof is one of the most popular attractions in The Netherlands. For several weeks at the start of spring, millions of tulips are planted in these gardens, with growers competing against each other for the most impressive display.

Having grown this sunflower from seed, I decided to preserve it and its little visitor for posterity.

Tulip Farm

A typical Dutch scene - tulips, farmhouse, cows. Taken approximately 20km north of Amsterdam.

Sunset over the North Sea. The view is from the pier that juts out from Scheveningen (on the left) in The Hague.

Facial Colour

A very experimental image, with heavily exaggerated colours. Original image was taken at the Maastricht carnival, thus her face was already painted.
